Dried flowers, cones, acorns and pine cones have always considered as a fine a home decoration. Now this trend is recurrently gaining momentum: natural materials are considered appropriate, even in a very luxurious interior. The reason for this, primarily, is their eco-friendliness.
Decorative straw and bark
Fans of eco-style believe that nature is the most talented artist, and it's a nap to integrate nature's creations in the interior. It's impossible to argue with that: it is enough to consider the amazing drawing of annual rings on the saw cut surface of the tree, perfectly built system of scales on the cones or the diverse textures of tree bark.
For stylish decorative solutions, several natural materials are used such as:
- dried flowers (Physalis, Eryngium, Briza, Lunaria, seed pods of Lotus). Some flowers do not lose their attractiveness once they are properly dried;
- decorative straw. Dried hay has a golden colour and a pleasant smell. Decorative straw is used for packing fragile items; knitted straw bales are used as seats. Straw is often used for handmade decoration;
- moss. Dried sphagnum moss is an excellent material to make flower arrangements which you can buy in the section nearby;
- cones of coniferous trees. Pine, spruce or cedar cones are very beautiful, and to enhance the decorative effect they can be painted wholly or partly;
- decorative bark. The price of this material is usually low. Usually, pine bark is used as it also has antiseptic properties. It is used for laying out soil, filling cache-pots for some plants (e.g. orchids). Decorative bark (which you can buy in our shop) holds perfectly if you stick it with regular or hot glue, that's why it's suitable for veneering picture frames or other items;
- saw cut of trees can generally be applied anywhere. Small roundels are used as framing for cache-pots, photo-frames and even walls. They can be used even to make whole pictures. Saw cut of trees with a bigger diameter can serve as a dish pad, a cutting board or even a countertop;
- branches and driftwood. Scenic white birch branches, reddish willow vine, intricately twisted roots – all these elements will look quite spectacular as a decor.
Natural materials can be considered completely environmentally friendly due to their origin, yet while using them for interior decor, you should make sure that they were properly treated with antiseptics. Moreover, dried flowers, bark and moss should be changed periodically (at least once a year).
